Bali Wedding Venues

Clifftop chapels, beach lawns, jungle valleys and rice-field estates, with capacities and starting prices.

Bali's wedding venues fall into four settings: clifftop chapels and lawns on the Bukit Peninsula, beachfront resorts in Nusa Dua, Jimbaran, Sanur, Seminyak and Canggu, jungle and river-valley resorts around Ubud and Sayan, and rice-field or villa estates in Tabanan. Most resorts run in-house wedding teams with set packages, while independent estates rent the space and let you bring your own planner. Below are 26 venues across every budget.

How it works in Bali

Booking wedding venues in Bali

Resort venues sell packages that bundle the ceremony set-up, a celebrant, flowers and one to three nights of accommodation for the couple; the reception is then charged per guest on top. Independent estates and private villas charge venue hire or a full buyout instead, and usually expect you to bring a planner and approved suppliers. Villas in residential areas often have a music curfew and a community fee paid to the local banjar.

As a guide, a ceremony for two at a five-star resort starts at about IDR 20–35 million. Chapel or garden ceremonies for 30–50 guests generally cost IDR 55–150 million before the reception, and receptions run from roughly IDR 1.3 million per guest upwards. Full buyouts of villa estates and boutique resorts start at about IDR 400 million and pass IDR 1 billion at the top end. Many prices are quoted plus 21% tax and service, so confirm whether a figure is net.

For May to October and for Saturdays, book 9–12 months ahead; the best-known clifftop chapels fill furthest in advance. Weekday or wet-season dates can often be secured four to six months out. If you want a legal marriage rather than a blessing, start the paperwork at the same time as the venue booking.

Before you book

Questions to ask

  1. 01Is the ceremony space exclusive to us, and is any other wedding booked on the same day?
  2. 02What is the wet-weather back-up, and by what time must we decide to use it?
  3. 03Is the price net, or plus 21% tax and service, and what exactly does the package include?
  4. 04Can we bring our own planner, photographer and florist, and is there a fee for outside suppliers?
  5. 05What time must amplified music end, and are fireworks or sky lanterns allowed?
  6. 06How many rooms must we book, and at what guest number does a full buyout become compulsory?
  7. 07Can the venue arrange a legal marriage, or only a blessing ceremony?
  8. 08How much is the deposit, and what are the cancellation and date-change terms?

FAQ

Wedding Venues: common questions

How much does a wedding venue in Bali cost?

+

A ceremony for two at a five-star resort starts at about IDR 20–35 million. Chapel or garden ceremonies for 30–50 guests usually cost IDR 55–150 million before the reception, which adds roughly IDR 1.3 million or more per guest. Exclusive buyouts of villa estates and boutique resorts start at about IDR 400 million and can pass IDR 1 billion. Check whether prices are net or plus 21% tax and service.

What is the best time of year to get married in Bali?

+

The dry season, from May to October, has the most reliable weather and is the most booked. April and November are good shoulder months with lower prices and fewer clashes. The wet season, December to March, brings short, heavy afternoon showers, so pick a venue with a covered back-up. Clifftop venues on the Bukit can be windy in July and August.

How far in advance should we book a Bali wedding venue?

+

For a Saturday in the dry season, book 9–12 months ahead, and longer for the best-known clifftop chapels. Weekday dates and wet-season months can often be secured four to six months out. Secure the venue first, then the planner, photographer and accommodation block, because most other suppliers will ask for your confirmed date and location.

Can foreigners legally marry at a Bali wedding venue?

+

Yes, but Indonesian law requires a religious ceremony first, followed by registration with the civil registry, and both partners must share a recognised religion. The paperwork needs translated documents and time, so start early. Many couples marry legally at home and hold a blessing or commitment ceremony in Bali instead, which every venue on this page can host.

Do we need a wedding planner if the venue has its own team?

+

At resorts with in-house teams, a package often covers the essentials and a planner is optional, though one helps with outside suppliers and guest logistics. Independent estates and private villas usually require a licensed planner, who handles permits, the community fee, suppliers and timings on the day. For more than about 50 guests, a planner is worth budgeting for either way.

What is a venue buyout and when is it needed?

+

A buyout means booking every room or the whole site for your group, so no other guests are present. Small resorts and villa estates often require one above a set guest number, typically around 30, and most camps and estates are only available this way. Buyouts usually include two nights' accommodation, which can make the per-guest cost better value than it first appears.

Are there curfews or noise limits at Bali wedding venues?

+

Most resorts end amplified music between 9pm and 11pm, and some beachfront lawns stop entertainment at 9.30pm. Villas in residential areas follow rules set by the local banjar, and these can include a curfew and a community fee. Fireworks and sky lanterns are restricted or banned at many venues. Ask for the rules in writing before you sign.

Should we choose a clifftop, beach or jungle venue?

+

Clifftop venues in Uluwatu, Ungasan and Jimbaran give wide ocean views and sunsets, but can be windy. Beach venues in Nusa Dua, Sanur, Seminyak and Canggu are easy for guests to reach and suit larger parties. Jungle and river-valley venues around Ubud and Sayan are cooler and greener, and suit smaller weddings, though they are further from the airport.
