How it works in Bali

Booking florists & decor in Bali

Most couples brief a decorator or floral stylist with a mood board, then receive a proposal itemised by area: personal flowers, ceremony arch and aisle, reception tables, lounge corners, signage and lighting. Many Bali decorators own their furniture, arches and props, so the quote often bundles hire, set-up and take-down. Hotels and resorts may have in-house florists or a list of approved suppliers, so check the venue's rules before you sign.

Local tropical flowers, orchids and foliage are good value; imported roses, peonies and hydrangeas cost several times more and depend on supply. As a guide, a bridal bouquet starts around IDR 1 to 2.5 million, an intimate ceremony and dinner setup from about IDR 20 to 60 million, and full décor for 100 guests from around IDR 100 million, with luxury installations well above IDR 250 million. Sound and lighting sets hire from about IDR 3 to 11 million a night, and tents, dance floors and furniture are priced per item.

Book your decorator six to twelve months ahead for dry-season dates, and confirm the final design, flower list and colour palette about two months out. Plan a wet-weather version for outdoor ceremonies from November to March, including tent or canopy hire.

FAQ

Florists & Decor: common questions

How much do wedding flowers and décor cost in Bali?

+

An intimate villa ceremony and dinner usually costs about IDR 20 to 60 million for flowers and décor. Full styling for a 100-guest reception typically starts around IDR 100 million, and one-stop decorator packages can start near IDR 160 million. Imported flowers, large floral arches, chandeliers and tents push budgets well past IDR 250 million.

Are local flowers cheaper than imported flowers in Bali?

+

Yes. Orchids, anthuriums, heliconia, frangipani, local roses, chrysanthemums and tropical foliage are grown in Indonesia and cost far less than imported peonies, ranunculus or garden roses. Imported stems also depend on flight schedules and can arrive tired in the heat. A palette built mostly on local blooms, with a few imported accents, keeps both cost and risk down.

Does the decorator supply furniture and lighting?

+

Most full-service Bali decorators own arches, tables, chairs, lounge sets, tableware and basic lighting, and include them in the quote. Specialist pieces such as sailcloth or clear tents, dance floors, chandeliers, and sound and DJ systems often come from separate hire companies. Ask for an itemised quote so you can see what is owned, what is hired in and what is charged for transport.

How far ahead should I book a florist in Bali?

+

Book six to twelve months ahead for dry-season weddings between May and October, and earlier for peak Saturdays or large installations. Smaller floral studios take a limited number of weddings per weekend. Confirm the final design and flower list about two months before the date, and the final guest count and table plan two to three weeks out.

Can I use my own decorator at a Bali resort?

+

Often, but not always. Many resorts have an in-house florist or an approved supplier list, and some charge an outside-vendor fee or require set-up within fixed hours. Private villas are usually more flexible but may limit noise, open flames or confetti. Check the venue's rules before you sign with a decorator.

What is the wet-season backup for an outdoor wedding in Bali?

+

From November to March, plan a covered option from the start: a tent, a canopy over the dinner tables, or an indoor space at the venue. Decorators and hire companies can quote a tent and flooring alongside the main design, with a decision deadline a day or two before the wedding. Hanging installations should be designed to move under cover.

Can Bali decorators create sustainable wedding décor?

+

Yes. Some studios design around potted plants that are replanted afterwards, reuse and upcycle props, and avoid floral foam and single-use plastics. Choosing local flowers, rented furniture and fabric signage also cuts waste. Ask the decorator what happens to the flowers and materials after the wedding, and whether they can be donated or composted.
