🗺️ 10-Day Itinerary · A full first trip or a return visit
Ten days lets you add the islands and the east to the classic route. After Uluwatu, a fast boat takes you to Nusa Lembongan, with a day on the cliffs of Nusa Penida; then three nights in Ubud, a day of water palaces in East Bali and a last night in Canggu.
Day 1 · Uluwatu
🚗 Airport to Uluwatu: about 45–60 minutes by car
Tip: The temple monkeys grab sunglasses and phones; keep both in a zipped bag.
Day 2 · Uluwatu
Tip: Uluwatu beaches sit below steep steps; low tide gives you the most sand.
Day 3 · Nusa Lembongan
🚗 Uluwatu to Sanur harbour: about 1 hour; fast boat to Lembongan: about 30 minutes
Tip: Travel light: on Lembongan you board and leave the boat from the beach, ankle-deep in water.
Day 4 · Nusa Lembongan
🚗 Lembongan to Nusa Penida: a short boat crossing
Tip: Penida's roads are steep and slow; go with a driver rather than a scooter.
Day 5 · Ubud
🚗 Fast boat to Sanur: about 30 minutes; Sanur to Ubud: about 1 hour by car
Tip: Ubud traffic is slowest from 4 to 7 PM; walk the centre instead of taking a car.
Day 6 · Ubud
Tip: Arrive at Tirta Empul when it opens at 8 AM; by 10 AM the pools are crowded.
Day 7 · Ubud
Tip: Trek pick-ups leave Ubud in the small hours; pack a warm layer for the summit.
Day 8 · Ubud
🚗 Ubud to Lempuyang: about 2 hours by car; a long day out and back
Tip: At Lempuyang the queue for the famous gate photo can take hours; the temples above it are worth the climb anyway.
Day 9 · Canggu
🚗 Ubud to Canggu: about 1–1.5 hours by car
Tip: Tanah Lot is 30 minutes from Canggu; leave by 5 PM to reach it before sunset.
Day 10 · Canggu
🚗 Canggu to the airport: about 1 hour, more at rush hour
Tip: The road from Canggu to the airport is the slowest on the island; leave earlier than you think.
