About
Bambu Indah is an eco-resort in Sayan, west of central Ubud, set on a gorge that drops down to the Ayung River. The name means beautiful bamboo.
The resort is made up of more than 20 individual houses, each different: antique Javanese teak bridal homes, bamboo and copper houses, safari-style tents and an open-air tree house nest. Most are furnished with antiques and open onto gardens or the river valley.
Instead of a chlorinated pool, Bambu Indah has natural spring-fed pools that use lava stone and plants to filter the water, plus a river-side swimming area and waterfalls. The kitchen grows much of its own produce, and the restaurants include Dapoer for Indonesian food, along with a sunset bar reached through a tunnel. There is a spa, a water filtration system that makes tap water drinkable, and activities such as rice harvesting, mushroom farming and Watsu sessions.
Central Ubud is about a 15-minute drive, and Ngurah Rai International Airport about 35 km away.
