Best Restaurants in Ubud 2026: Where to Eat and What to Order

Locavore NXT is the most awarded restaurant in Ubud: No. 44 on Asia's 50 Best Restaurants 2026 (up from No. 92 in 2025) and on Tatler Best Indonesia's 20 Best Restaurants 2026. It cooks only Indonesian ingredients, many grown, fermented or aged on site in its rooftop food forest and lab in Lodtunduh.

The current tasting menu, The Source 2.0 (since July 2026), costs IDR 2,250,000++ per person, with pairings from IDR 750,000++. Courses rotate; recent menus have featured cassava noodles, rice koji porridge and aged Bangkal Hitam pork.

Pasir is a Mediterranean-leaning grill on Jl. Monkey Forest that cooks seafood and meat from Balinese suppliers. It is one of the easiest central dinners to book, with walk-ins welcome outside weekends.

Start with the octopus carpaccio or the snapper crudo, then share the hanging tomahawk if there are two or more of you.

B3 is a bakery, specialty coffee bar and steakhouse in the new Alaya Suites Ubud on Jl. Raya Pengosekan, from Jakarta's MDA Restaurants group, opened in 2026. It is a café by day and a steakhouse by night.

Try the B.E.K pastry (bulgogi and kimchi with an onsen egg, a Bali-only item), the bone-marrow zongzi and the Corny Bennie. The same hotel has also opened Carbón, a Latin American live-fire restaurant from the same group.

Melali is an all-day restaurant in Tegallantang, north Ubud, with a cross-cultural menu of Mediterranean, Middle Eastern, Indonesian and Western dishes and plenty of vegetarian choice.

Order the lamb kofta, the mezze platter or the steak frites; mains start at IDR 60,000++.

Room4Dessert is pastry chef Will Goldfarb's dessert-led tasting menu in Sanggingan: savoury snacks, a run of desserts and petit fours. It is on Tatler Best Indonesia's 20 Best Restaurants 2026.

The current season, Season 20 "Fight Club 2.0", starts at IDR 1,090,000++ without pairings. Recent menus have included Crab Crab Crab, sesame karaage and a porridge with mulberries.

Maluku, inside Ubud Village Hotel, cooks contemporary Indonesian food inspired by the Spice Islands, with a few Western plates for anyone who wants them.

The barramundi in woku santan sauce, the char-grilled octopus and the beef rendang are the dishes to try. Mains sit between IDR 115,000 and 150,000, good value for a sit-down restaurant on Monkey Forest.

Batubara is an Argentinian-Mediterranean steakhouse on Jl. Raya Pengosekan that cooks over coffee wood, with a chalkboard of cuts to choose from.

Pick a wagyu cut from the board, the salmon a las brasas or the house croquetas. Mains start at IDR 165,000++. The kitchen can be slow when it is full.

Indus is Janet DeNeefe's open-air restaurant on the Sanggingan ridge, looking over the Tjampuhan valley, and a home venue for the Ubud Writers & Readers Festival. The menu is Asian and Indonesian, built for sharing.

Order the slow-cooked beef rendang, the Balinese-style paella and the lobster udon. The two-course Ubud Valley Dining lunch costs IDR 195,000++, and happy hour (4 – 6 PM) is two cocktails for IDR 150,000++. Some reviewers find the food uneven, so come for the view first.

Liap Liap is an Indonesian grill near the Sacred Monkey Forest that cooks over wood and charcoal and smokes much of its menu. It runs from breakfast to dinner, with a set lunch in the afternoon.

Order the seafood paella cooked liwet-style, the bamboo chicken woku and the black-spice duck (bebek bumbu hitam). The set lunch "A Taste of Tradition" starts at IDR 130,000++ per person, a good-value way in. Reviews are mixed on consistency and the live music can be loud.

Mozaic, founded by chef Chris Salans in Sanggingan, is Ubud's long-running French-Indonesian tasting-menu restaurant and a member of Les Grandes Tables du Monde, with a separate bar, the Tipple Room.

Choose between the Seasonal menu and the vegetarian Botanical menu; dinner degustation starts from around IDR 1,100,000++. A six-course lunch series (Thursday to Saturday, eight seats) starts on 29 October 2026.

Zest has been fully plant-based since 2018 and sits on a ridge in Penestanan with a jungle view, live music and events. The menu runs from bowls and ramen to jackfruit mains.

Order the jackfruit "fillet steak" (IDR 108,000), the peanut miso ramen and the mango passion bowl. Several reviewers find it pricey for the portion size.

Nautilus bills itself as Ubud's first restaurant devoted entirely to fish and seafood, on Jl. Suweta north of the palace, with a free shuttle from the centre.

Order the octopus with tomato fondant, the lobster with zucchini pasta and the barramundi with black dumplings. A set menu runs from 3 to 6 PM.

Copper is the all-day rooftop restaurant of Bisma Eight hotel on Jl. Bisma, cooking with produce from the hotel's own farm in Tegallalang. It is open from breakfast to late, so it works for brunch as well as sunset drinks.

The charred octopus with chimichurri, the grilled Tasmanian salmon and the tres leches cake are the house signatures. A new executive chef joined in 2026, so expect some menu changes.

2 Bulan is a modern regional Thai restaurant and natural-wine bar in Nyuh Kuning, cooking Northern, Isaan, Southern and Central Thai dishes with house-made curry pastes and noodles. It is from the same team as Bacari and Galle Club.

Order the miang kham, the pad mee Korat and, for a splurge, the Tokusen wagyu ribeye. Mains start at IDR 85,000++, with a Thai set lunch by day and a sunset drinks deal from 4 PM.

Spice is chef Blake Thornley's modern Indonesian bar and grill on Jl. Monkey Forest. Thornley is also chef and co-owner of Mozaic, and the menu turns regional street food into charcoal skewers and sharing plates.

Go for the beef cheek rendang, the boneless duck rawon and the black cod cooked over charcoal in banana leaf, with a few skewers (IDR 42,000 – 62,000) on the side. The cocktail list is by Bili Wirawan, named Best Restaurant Mixologist 2024 by Les Grandes Tables du Monde.

Swept Away is The Samaya's riverside restaurant on the Ayung in Sayan, serving Indonesian comfort food and international favourites for lunch and dinner, plus private candlelit set menus by the water.

Diners on its booking page vote for the ayam panggang, the bebek Samaya and the ikan goreng garing. The private Royal 100 Candle Lit Dinner costs IDR 4,200,000++ per couple and must be arranged in advance.

Kojin, at Aksari Resort in Kenderan, is a Japanese restaurant with a teppanyaki counter, omakase menus and an irori charcoal grill, run by Wonderspace (formerly iNi Vie Hospitality, the group behind Shichirin).

Order the chutoro tataki and the saba shioyaki set. Expect around IDR 550,000 per person; a teppanyaki masterclass costs IDR 800,000 – 950,000.

Suka (listed on booking sites as Suka Ubud) is an Australian-style brunch café with specialty coffee on Jl. Raya Pengosekan. In the evening the same space becomes Bonnie by Suka, a European bistro.

Order the Chilli Bae, the Morning Fuel bowl or the truffle scramble; breakfast starts at IDR 60,000++. It gets busy, so expect a short wait at peak times.

Donna is the loudest, most social dinner on Jl. Monkey Forest: a Mediterranean and Latin American kitchen with sharing plates, a long cocktail list and a room that turns into a party later in the evening, especially on Fridays.

Order the polpo alla Donna, the Peruvian-style seafood paella and the beef tartare, the dishes diners vote for most on its booking page. Come for a group night out rather than a quiet date.

Ankhusa is the all-day restaurant of Aksari Resort in Kenderan, in a semi-outdoor bamboo building over the river and forest. The menu mixes international dishes with Balinese and Indonesian ones, including megibung sharing platters.

For a splurge, the Billionaire Burger comes with a 24K gold bun, wagyu and foie gras; the Black Angus ribeye and the wagyu tartare brioche are the other headliners.

Galle Club in Nyuh Kuning cooks Sri Lankan and coastal South Indian food: thaali-style lunches and, at dinner, family-style short eats and curries.

Order the hot butter halloumi, a hopper thaali and the lamb shank curry. Large plates start at IDR 85,000++, around IDR 200,000 per person.

Bird's Nest is a tiny home-style Thai kitchen of about 15 seats at the start of Jl. Raya Sayan, run by a very small team. It is the cheap, friendly counterpoint to the big view restaurants further down the road.

Order the tom yum with prawns, the pad Thai and the mango sticky rice. It gets busy in the evening and reviews mention uneven cooking on busy nights.

The Sayan House is a Japanese-Latin American restaurant above the Ayung valley in Sayan, with a walk-in Sunset Bar and a separate Hakkoku omakase counter on site. Diners rate the setting even higher than the food, so time it for sunset.

Order the salmon saikyo-yaki, the king prawn jambalaya and the matcha tiramisu.

Lynked is a modern Indonesian bistro and cocktail bar on the second floor above Jl. Raya Ubud, near the palace and the market. The kitchen takes regional dishes and cooks them with modern technique, and the bar works with arak infusions.

Order the samsam babi (Balinese-spiced pork belly), the beef rendang and the bubur injin (black rice pudding) for dessert.

Sans is a North Indian restaurant at Dedary Resort in Kenderan, near Tegallalang, also serving Indo-Chinese dishes such as chilli paneer and breakfast for resort guests. It is part of the Wonderspace group.

Order the butter chicken, the lamb biryani and the lamb rogan josh.

Bacari is a 22-seat wine bar on Jl. Goutama serving tapas with Mediterranean, Middle Eastern and South Asian accents. By day the same room is a café; from 5 PM it is one of the best small places in town for a glass of wine and a few plates.

Try the short rib on baguette, the smoked ham on brioche and a board of cold cuts. Cocktails start at IDR 140,000. It comes from the same team as 2 Bulan and Galle Club.

Shichirin is a Japanese counter on Jl. Bisma built around a konro charcoal grill and a teppanyaki plate, with sushi on the side. Dinner runs in two fixed sessions, so it feels more like a show than a casual meal.

Order the gyu katsu (breaded wagyu), the saikoro beef cubes and the flamed "fiery blazing" sushi. Budget for a real dinner bill: recent guides put it at around IDR 690,000 per person, and reviews of the food and pacing are mixed.

Pica is chef-owner Cristian Encina's South American kitchen on Jl. Dewi Sita, open since 2014. It is small (about 24 seats), dinner-only and focused on Peruvian flavours, with an à la carte menu and a tasting menu.

Order the ceviche clásico, the goat cheese soufflé and the slow-cooked pork belly. Mains start at IDR 170,000++. The same chef runs Cantina Rooftop.

Hujan Locale is chef Will Meyrick's modern Indonesian restaurant on Jl. Sri Wedari: two floors, a rooftop with temple views and cocktails served from a cart. The food is inspired by street food and slow cooking and arrives family-style.

Order the slow-cooked beef rendang, the babi panggang and the grouper and chive dumplings. It is adults-only, with no children under 12.

Ibu Susu is a casual pan-Asian kitchen and cocktail bar on Jl. Monkey Forest, mixing Japanese, Thai, Chinese and Indonesian dishes. It is one of the few central kitchens that keeps serving until around midnight.

Order the butterfish sashimi, the crispy chicken steamed buns and the beef rendang; diners on its booking page also rate the dim sum and the roast pork belly. Happy-hour cocktails cost IDR 65,000++.

Apéritif, inside Viceroy Bali, is a 1920s-style dining room serving degustation menus by executive chef Nic Vanderbeeken. It is on Tatler Best Indonesia's 20 Best Restaurants for 2025 and 2026, with vegan, vegetarian and pescatarian menus on request.

The 2026 Moon Cycle menu costs IDR 1,500,000++ for five courses and IDR 1,900,000++ for seven, with dishes such as king prawn with fermented honey and young mango, and venison Wellington with a rendang-inspired sauce.

Syrco BASÈ is Dutch-Indonesian chef Syrco Bakker's garden restaurant on Jl. Sri Wedari, cooking Indonesian ingredients with the precision of his time at two-Michelin-star Pure C in the Netherlands. It made Tatler Best Indonesia's 20 Best Restaurants for the first time in 2026 and won Gold at the PRESTIGE Gourmet Awards 2026.

The main restaurant offers BASÈ Lunch (IDR 950,000++), BASÈ Essence (IDR 1,500,000++) and BASÈ Journey (IDR 1,750,000++). KU culinary atelier, a separate 12-seat counter on the same grounds, serves its own Culinary Journey from IDR 1,950,000++.

Kubu serves a single set menu in nine private bamboo cocoons beside the Ayung River at Mandapa, a Ritz-Carlton Reserve (a Three MICHELIN Key hotel, a hotel award). Since its November 2024 relaunch the menu has been built on Balinese produce sourced within 100 km.

The set menu costs IDR 1,250,000++, with pairings from IDR 750,000++. Spring 2026 courses included Serangan crab with Plaga melon and Jimbaran lobster in corn velouté; a plant-based version is available.

Nari is a wood-fire bistro on the first floor of the old Beggar's Bush building at Campuhan, above Pura Gunung Lebah, with a Mediterranean slant and a sunset "Ridge Hour".

Order the smoked burrata with veggie nduja, the charcoal barramundi with citrus beurre blanc and the 48-hour braised short rib in rendang jus. A lunch special costs IDR 165,000++ (12 – 3 PM).

Ibu Mangku's roadside warung in Kedewatan has served one dish for decades: nasi ayam, a plate of rice with shredded spiced chicken, sate lilit, lawar or urap, half an egg, fried peanuts and sambal. It is the name local guides mention most often for where Ubud eats.

The special plate costs IDR 35,000 (vegetarian IDR 25,000). It is very spicy, so ask for less chilli, and service slows when it is busy.

Ibu Oka is Ubud's most famous babi guling (spit-roast suckling pig) warung, widely reported as a stop on Anthony Bourdain's Bali visit. The largest and most reviewed branch is Ibu Oka 3 on Jl. Tegal Sari, behind the palace; the original sits on Jl. Suweta opposite it.

Order the special plate (IDR 65,000) with pork, crackling, lawar, sausage and rice. It closes when the pig sells out, usually by mid-afternoon, and tour groups fill it at lunch; Google ratings are only around 3.8, so treat it as an experience rather than the island's best babi guling.

Biah Biah on Jl. Goutama serves Balinese and Indonesian home cooking as small tapas-style plates, so you can try several dishes for very little.

Order the nasi goreng babi kecap (IDR 38,000) and a few small plates such as ayam sambal matah (IDR 12,000), plus tempeh or tofu satay. Plates are small, so order several; vegans should confirm what is vegan rather than vegetarian.

Bu Rus is a family-run warung behind an easy-to-miss entrance off Jl. Suweta, opening onto a back garden with small huts. It cooks Balinese and Indonesian home food at warung prices.

Order the nasi campur ayam (IDR 45,000), the crispy duck and the moringa curry. Pick a seat with a fan in the evening: the garden huts get humid.

Sun Sun is a family-run warung in a traditional Balinese compound on Jl. Jembawan, with some floor seating on cushions and vegan options. It is one of the most reviewed warungs in Ubud, which means a queue at busy times.

Order the nasi campur with blue butterfly-pea rice, the ayam betutu or the crispy duck. Nasi goreng costs around IDR 38,000; duck dishes can sell out.

Nikuna is a small two-level warung and art gallery next door to Sun Sun on Jl. Jembawan, showing the owner's father's paintings. The menu is traditional Balinese and Indonesian with plenty of vegetarian and vegan dishes.

Order the nasi raja (there is a vegetarian version), the sate lilit and the pork ribs. Expect to spend around IDR 270,000 per person with tax and service.

Plant Bistro is a 100% plant-based, Italian-led bistro and patisserie in a treehouse-style room on Jl. Raya Campuhan, near the Blanco Museum. It does pizza, pasta, risotto, vegan sushi, pastries and gelato, with gluten-free options.

Order the vegan carbonara or cavatelli, a few rolls of plant-based sushi and the tiramisu. It costs a little more than nearby vegan spots and is reached by a steep driveway and stairs.

Moksa is the farm-to-table plant-based restaurant of founder and executive chef Made Runatha in Sayan, set in a 2,500 sqm permaculture garden with garden tours, cooking classes and a Saturday farmers' market.

Order the tempeh ribs, the asam laksa noodles and the masala pumpkin uttapam. Mains cost IDR 80,000 – 100,000, plus 15% tax and service.

Alchemy in Penestanan is a plant-based, gluten-free and largely raw café with a build-your-own salad bar, a breakfast bar and a tonic and juice bar.

Build a salad bowl, then try the raw cakes or a smoothie bowl. It is expensive for a café, and some items use honey, so it is not strictly vegan.

Clear Cafe on Jl. Hanoman is a multi-level health-food café with a koi pond and floor cushions (shoes off at the entrance). The menu is mostly vegetarian, vegan and raw, with Indonesian dishes and a few seafood plates.

Order the vegan nasi campur, the Open Sesame salad (IDR 80,000) and a mylk shake. Service slows at peak times, and some "vegan" items have reportedly contained dairy or honey, so ask.

Cherry Pepper is a two-storey open-air wooden restaurant and bar on Jl. Monkey Forest, opposite the Ubud Art Market, with international comfort food, an Indonesian section and weekly live music.

Order the Wagyu Wonder Burger (IDR 190,000), the salmon prawn bisque or the crispy Ubud duck (IDR 170,000). Ratings disagree between sites, so treat it as a dependable central option rather than a destination.
